My research interests are in the application of physical and chemical science to understanding and solving engineering problems that usually involve transient motion of fluids and solids. These studies are often experimental although there is a substantial component of computation and analysis.
The Explosion Dynamics Laboratory specializes in studies of combustion, fuel properties, fluid and solid dynamics relevant to explosions and dynamic impact events.
The T5 Hypervelocity Shock Tunnel Facility and shock tube laboratories are dedicated to the study of supersonic and hypervelocity flows with an emphasis on real gas effects at high speed and novel supersonic flow effects.
