Purchased in the market in Moscow in 1991, just prior to the attempt to oust Gorbachev and Yeltsin. My research interests are in the application of physical and chemical science to understanding and solving engineering problems that usually involve transient motion of fluids and solids. These studies are often experimental although there is a substantial component of computation and analysis.

The Explosion Dynamics Laboratory specializes in studies of combustion, fuel properties, fluid and solid dynamics relevant to explosions and dynamic impact events.

The Hypersonics laboratories are dedicated to the study of supersonic and hypervelocity flows with an emphasis on real gas effects at high speed and novel supersonic flow effects.

Information about current and recent research can found on the Projects page.
